Inclusive Business Forum 2016

This year’s Inclusive Business Forum happened on October 20, and once again addressed the global challenges of poverty through inclusive business. The theme of the year was People, planet and prosperity through partnership where focus was directed towards the Global Goals for Sustainable Development (the SDG’s) and how we can reach these through inclusive business. About 160 participants from business, civil society and academia gathered to listen to keynote speeches by Arancha González, executive director of the International Trade Center (ITC), and Isabella Lövin, Swedish minister for International development cooperation and deputy Prime Minister.

The Forum was also a call to action on how Sweden can proactively and concretely deliver on the commitment to the SDGs. Participants took part in sector-based workshops and working sessions focusing on linking and cooperating with diverse stakeholders in the sectors of energy, healthcare, agri-food, textiles and clothing, ICT and water and sanitation. The Forum also invited experts in form of a Challenge Panel where inclusive business entrepreneurs and experts shared their opinions on some of the challenges business can faced and how to overcome these. The Forum focused also on creating valuable collaborations, whereby participants were encouraged to interact with different industries for potential matchmaking through several sessions during the event. Throughout the day, many good questions were addressed and even better solutions were provided and discussed.

We would like to extend a BIG thank you to all participants for contributing to the success of the Forum! And if you by any chance missed us this year – come join us next year! And don’t forget – you can always send us an email before that. Looking forward to seeing you (or hearing from you)!

Inclusive Business Forum 2015

The Inclusive Business Forum was held in May 2015, and was an inspirational and action-oriented day where we collaborated towards addressing the global challenge of poverty through inclusive business.  The 2015 Forum marked the launch of the Inclusive Business Co-creation Accelerator – our 3-year programme dedicated towards co-creating and scaling inclusive business models with the base of the pyramid – the 4.5 billion individuals living on under $8 a day. This programme, based on the Inclusive Business Agenda, seeks to work towards global ambitions in the areas of agri-food, healthcare, energy, water and sanitation, ICT, and textiles and clothing. The Forum focused on building alliances and a community that can work together towards these ambitions for mutual benefit.

Two keynote speakers were Hans Rosling and Iqbal Z. Quadir, whose videos can be viewed below.

During the second part of the event, participants were invited to take part in engaging sector-based discussions and working sessions focusing on co-creation around our vision, that by 2020, Swedish business is playing a leading role in addressing the global challenges of poverty – enhancing agricultural productivity, enabling access to energy, water, sanitation, healthcare and communications, improving environmental sustainability, and creating jobs both at home and abroad. This is all being done profitably – and you can be part of it! Mike Debelak, the CEO and founder of Inclusive Business Sweden will show you how in the video below.
