The Inclusive Business Alliance for WASH is one of six alliances formed around the Inclusive Business Co-creation Accelerator, a 3-year programme seeking to benefit the actors and initiatives within this alliance.
The challenge: More than 780 million people lack access to clean water while 2.5 billion do not have access to adequate sanitation
This has obvious impacts on the health of these populations, but also the productivity of developing economies. For every $1 invested in water and sanitation, an average of at least $4 is returned in increased productivity. Moreover, export of Swedish knowledge in the water and sanitation sector is worth close to a billion dollars – making Sweden a role model in these solutions, as we are collaborating throughout the value chain, with actors from the public, private and academic sectors.
For more information about the challenge and opportunity in this sector, as well as an outline of Swedish capabilities and initiatives, please refer to the sector summary from the Inclusive Business Agenda here.
A collaborative alliance
The alliance is managed by Inclusive Business Sweden in collaboration with SP/Urban Water. Swedish water and sanitation businesses and other organisations are welcome to join the alliance to collaborate around addressing this challenge.
Our ambition by 2030…
Partner to ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for 100 million people at the BoP
Current plans for 2015 – 2017 include to facilitate ongoing collaboration between peers, link actors with international partners, establish local and international forums for co-creation and innovation, enable access to financing, and establish other sector-wide initiatives. So if you want to benefit, make sure to join us below!
We encourage you to participate and co-create to benefit from these activities:
- Collaboration will be managed through an open LinkedIn group – join here!

Join the alliance
Actors can join the alliance as partners or participants:
- Partners are active – committed to the sector ambition and willing to act collaboratively towards that ambition
- Participants are passive – interested in staying the loop with alliance activities
Swedish organisations can join the alliance by filling out the form below. Once that’s done, we will get back to you shortly with more information. Please note that joining the alliance does not represent a contractual or highly formal commitment, but rather an intention to co-create and collaborate around inclusive business activities.
At this year’s Inclusive Business Forum, where about 180 participants from business, government and academia gathered around the theme Co-create the Future, collaborative workshops were held to set forth the what, the why, the how and the who of achieving the alliance ambitions. Clicking on the image to the left will allow you to view the results of the workshop.
